About the event
In Jeremiah 31, the prophet is told by God that a new covenant will be made with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. This covenant will not be like the covenant God made with the Israelites when He rescued them from Egypt in the Exodus account. This covenant will be something new, like nothing that has ever been seen in the Biblical story. This covenant will not fail because it is based on the measure of God's forgiveness as opposed to Israel's obedience. This New Covenant will produce humanity whose hearts beat God's love, generosity, gratitude, and grace. Jeremiah goes on to state that when this happens, all will know Him, which has been a verse of discussion for centuries.
